In his book Ministry and Spirituality, Henri Nouwen
writes, “Hospitality is the virtue which allows
us to break through the narrowness of our own fears and to open our houses to the
stranger, with the intuition that salvation comes to us in the form of a tired traveler.
Hospitality makes anxious disciples into powerful witnesses, makes suspicious
owners into generous givers, and makes close-minded sectarians into interested recipients
of new ideas and insights.”
This summer Christ Church is practicing hospitality. We will start with breakfast on the porch
each Sunday at 9:00am, which will lead us to an informal worship service in the
Parlor at 9:30am. Our worship services
will be all about hospitality with space for sharing our experiences of
offering and receiving hospitality.
If you don’t already have plans, we hope you will
join us for worship in July as we welcome all people while we try some new
things, sing some new songs and hear refreshingly good news of hospitality.
