SPECIAL SUNDAY LESSON: PHILIPPIANS 3: 17-4:1 (THE MESSAGE)
Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I've warned you of them many times; sadly, I'm having to do it again. All they want is easy street. They hate Christ's Cross. But easy street is a dead-end street. Those who live there make their bellies their gods; belches are their praise; all they can think of is their appetites. But there's far more to life for us. We're citizens of high heaven! We're waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master, Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthy bodies into glorious bodies like his own. He'll make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which he is putting everything as it should be, under and around him. My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don't waver. Stay on track, steady in God.

Have you ever set an objective and worked out a plan and named your goals so that you could be successful in reaching your objective? Charting the course and noticing our progress are keys to being successful. So what is our objective as a people of faith? What are our goals that will help us be successful? What are we called to do with who we are and what are we challenged to let go of so that we can make it? What helps us stay on track? What distracts us? What encourages us as we move forward? What role does community have in meeting our objective – in being successful?
Join us this Sunday, October 17 at 10:00a.m. at Christ Church as we diverge from the Lectionary to work on understanding our ultimate objective in our lives of faith. We will do this during the service and immediately following worship at our second October Potluck Program in the Fellowship Hall. Because we will be deciding on the Church‘s one objective for the year, it is important for everyone to be present for both worship and the program! Hope to see you there!
